Trixie, Our Junior Water Dog You all remember the birthday pictures when Trixie was VERY hesitant to get more than her feet wet. Well, she did start to swim soon afterwards when ducks caught her attention. She is amazingly fast but, of course, not fast enough to get even close to the ducks. In May we went to a water workshop organized by the Pacific Northwest PWD Club. Trixie did amazingly well, fearless as always she did the exercises once SHE decided she wanted to. Since she had so much fun we went to a nearby lake regularly where she enjoyed swimming and retrieving her orange dummy. At the club's summer picnic we let ourselves be talked into trying the "real" exercises which PWDs must do to earn a title. And since Trixie did these so well we decided to register her for the Water Trials at Flowing Lake State Park, about 50 miles north of Seattle. These are the exercises which must be performed by a Junior Water Dog:
Fortunately, Trixie was quite eager that day and less distracted than usual. Whew! The picture page documents how Trixie and Johanna mastered all these exercises during a cool September morning. |
